Welcome! I’m Omar Sultan Haque, and I aim to provide reasoned and evidence-based insights on Philosophy, Psychology, Religion, and Politics. You may not agree with me on everything — or anything — and that is good! I aspire to pursue truth with you, create dialogue, contribute to and defend free inquiry, and engage in civil discourse on what matters most in life.
I am a philosopher and social scientist at Harvard, and member of the Harvard Program in Psychiatry and the Law, and Harvard Council on Academic Freedom (The views expressed here are mine alone, and do not represent any other organization or group to which I am affiliated).
My work and ideas have been covered in, among others, the New York Times, Science Magazine, Harvard Magazine, Harvard Gazette, Atlantic Monthly, BBC, NPR, Forbes, Psychology Today, and the Boston Globe.
I graduated from Harvard Medical school with honors, and Harvard Divinity School, and was awarded the Peter J. Gomes, STB '68 Distinguished Alumni Honor. As a teacher, I received a number of awards, including receiving six times a Certificate of Distinction in Teaching from the Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning at Harvard University, and for "Excellence in the Art of Teaching" for Supervision of a Harvard College Thomas T. Hoopes Prize-winning Senior Thesis (Anthropology) awarded by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University.
